As a part of strategic long-term partnership Carbo One Limited has signed a contract for the supply of premium PCI coal to Companhia Siderurgica Nacional (CSN).
CSN is the largest fully integrated steel producer in Brazil and one of the largest in South America in terms of crude steel production. The company sells its steel products to customers in Brazil and other countries in North America, Europe and Asia through its distribution network. CSN is considered to be one of the most productive steel-makers in South America, producing more than 6 mio t of raw steel and more than 5 mio t of laminated steel per year.
Carbo One has been successfully supplying high-quality coal to the Brazilian market since 2009 in amount of more than 2 mio t per year. CSN was one of the first customers in the region to implement the PCI technology at their steel mills and Carbo One was the first supplier of Russian origin PCI, which was successfully tested and is used as the basis for the charge in the blast furnace.
Premium Russian PCI coal is shipped to CSN from Ust-Luga Coal Terminal – the major specialized coal terminal in Baltics with high-tech equipment and advanced multistage system of magnetic decontamination.
