Carbo One Cup Tennis Europe U12 Grand Opening Ceremony

An impressive opening ceremony marked the beginning of “Carbo One Cup Tennis Europe Junior under 12” at Aphrodite Hills Resort on Sunday 13th of May 2018.

The tournament was established with the financial support and under the auspices of Carbo One Ltd, which is the exclusive sponsor of the event. “Carbo One Cup Tennis Europe U12” is taking place from 12 to 19 May 2018 within the official competitive calendar of the Tennis Europe International Association.

Carbo One Ltd expressed its deepest gratitude to the First Lady of the Republic of Cyprus, Mrs. Andri Anastasiades, who took the tournament under her guardianship and whose influential support was a great honor for the organizers of the tournament, all its participants and guests.

Mrs. Andri Anastasiades delivered a speech at the opening ceremony of the Carbo One Cup TE U12 and highly appreciated the company’s efforts to support socially important projects, in particular youth sports, in Cyprus. The opening ceremony was also attended by other officials, representing both the state authorities and large public organizations and associations of Cyprus. Minister of Education and Culture Mr. Kostas Champiaouris as well as the Mayor of Limassol Mr. Nicos Nicolaides also addressed the guests at the opening ceremony.

During the opening ceremony of the tournament, Carbo One Ltd also expressed encouragement to the Independent Social Support Body, a charity organization that helps Cyprus students who face financial difficulties to continue their studies.

Mrs. Katerina Christou, member of the Board of Carbo One Ltd, addressed the event and donated a cheque of €20,000 to the First Lady of the Republic of Cyprus and the ISSB President, Mrs. Andri Anastasiades as a contribution of Carbo One to this important charity mission. Mrs. Christou also stressed in her speech that Carbo One, as one of the largest coal trading companies in the world, will always consider as its main priority not only achievements in business, but the support and promotion of socially significant projects in Cyprus.

The opening ceremony culminated with a spectacular parade of the participants who came to the tournament from more than 24 countries. Now the young athletes will try to test their strength on the tennis courts within the next week until May 19, 2018. Carbo One hopes that the efforts of the organizers of the tournament will allow the athletes to fully concentrate on the game and enjoy not only the victories, but also the spirit of the competition!
