Alpe d’Huez, France, June 6, 2019
Carbo One has sponsored a biking team from the Netherlands, which participated in the Alpe d’HuZes charity race on 06 June 2019 to raise money for the Dutch Cancer Society (KWF Kankerbestrijding).
Carbo One, being a socially responsible company, actively supports cultural, sporting and charity events around the globe. It is not the first time Carbo One takes part in sponsorship of Alpe d’HuZes, which is a unique sporting event where as much money as possible is raised for cancer research and for improving the quality of life of people with cancer. About 4650 participants biked, hiked and ran the Alpe d’Huez, attempting a maximum of six climbs, under the motto “giving up is not an option”. Every euro donated to the Alpe d’HuZes/KWF Fund goes directly and 100% to cancer research. Since 2006 over 162 million euros has been raised for high-quality, relevant and ground-breaking cancer research, always in the patient’s interest. 236 cancer studies have been funded with this money.
The 14th Alpe d’HuZes has become a huge success, with a great donation as a result. The impressive amount of 11,800,239.74 euros was announced live at the finish on Alpe d’Huez.
Jan Kouwenhoven, chairman of Alpe d’HuZes: “It was a fantastic experience to be able to do the final climb together with our participants. The climb symbolizes that everyone at Alpe d’HuZes is equal and unique and therefore equally important. Many thanks to our participants, volunteers and sponsors for the particularly successful race week 2019. We have raised a fantastic donation amount, we are all very proud of that. And we will continue, because giving up is not an option”.
